Now it is the time for party. Yes!! we have completed one successful year and entering in to the new year 2012. Actual, it is the fact that nature gifted another year to survive. Here note that i have just mentioned it by nature  and not god. Because i am not believe in god.

Most of my friends say that why you don't believe in god. At that time, my simple answers is, i am not supposed to say that god is there are not. I am not willing to worship the god even if someday proof the god existence. That's all. Then my advice to my friends is, just believe in yourself and you will achieve a lot.

GSM phones vulnerable to hacking: Research

A well-known expert on mobile phone security says a vulnerability in a widely used wireless technology could allow hackers to gain remote control of phones, instructing them to send text messages or make calls.

They could use the vulnerability in the GSM network technology, which is used by billions of people in about 80 per cent of the global mobile market, to make calls or send texts to expensive, premium phone and messaging services in scams, said Karsten Nohl, head of Germany's Security Research Labs.

Similar attacks against a small number of smartphones have been done before, but the new attack could expose any cellphone using GSM technology.

"We can do it to hundreds of thousands of phones in a short timeframe," Nohl told Reuters in advance of a presentation at a hacking convention in Berlin on Tuesday.

Attacks on corporate landline phone systems are fairly common, often involving bogus premium-service phone lines that hackers set up across Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia. Fraudsters make calls to the numbers from hacked business phone systems or mobile phones, then collect their cash and move on before the activity is identified.

The phone users typically don't identify the problem until after they receive their bills and telecommunications carriers often end up footing at least some of the costs.

Even though Nohl will not present details of attack at the conference he said hackers will usually replicate the code needed for attacks within a few weeks.

Sachin Tendulkar out as India 214/3 at stumps on Day 2

MELBOURNE: Sachin Tendulkar gave glimpses of his vintage form but the record 100th international century continued to elude him as India responded with a strong batting display to keep the first cricket Test against Australia on an even keel on Tuesday.

After dismissing Australia for 333 in the first innings, Indians rode on useful contributions from most of the top-order batsmen to reach 214 for three at close on the second day.

Tendulkar who looked fluent during his innings of 73 was done in by a beauty from Peter Siddle. The delivery cut back sharply at a scorching pace as the senior pro tried to reach for a drive only to be bowled through the gate. He hit eight boundaries and a six off Siddle with his trademark upper cut over third-man region.

The foundation of India's reply was a solid 117-run third wicket partnership between Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid (68 batting) after opener Virender Sehwag smashed a quickfire 67 after being dropped twice on 54 and 58 respectively.

Australians were also unlucky as a Siddle in-dipper breached Dravid's defences but the TV replays confirmed that the speedster had bowled a no-ball. Dravid was batting on 65 then and the team's score was 202 for two.

Only Gautam Gambhir (3) failed among the top four as he was done in by the awkward bounce and away movement generated by Ben Hilfenhaus.

Earlier Australia, resuming at their overnight score of 277 for 6, were all out for 333, half an hour before lunch break with Zaheer Khan (4 for 77), Umesh Yadav (3 for 106) and Ravichandran Ashwin (3 for 81) sharing the spoils.

Dravid has now batted for more than four hours (245 minutes) facing 185 deliveries in the process. He has hit six boundaries.

The performance of the troika of Sehwag, Tendulkar and Dravid has again proved that India's ageing stalwarts haven't yet lost the hunger.

Admittedly, all the three fast bowlers, Siddle, James Pattinson and Ben Hilfenhaus, bowled well in patches but the weakest link was off-spinner Nathan Lyon whom Indian batsmen treated with utter disdain.

Lyon was twice introduced and taken off the attack in a hurry when Virender Sehwag launched into him with two successive fours down the ground and later Tendulkar and Dravid milked him at will. Lyon ended the day giving away 53 runs from 14 wicketless overs.

Tendulkar walked in to a standing ovation from a goodish crowd at MCG but was edgy in his little stay before the tea break.

But on resumption, he appeared to have come out with a definite plan and upper cut a Siddle delivery over third man for a six.

Tendulkar carted Siddle for two more boundaries - an upper cut between third slip and gully and a lovely cover drive.

He then essayed two gorgeous drives on either side of the wicket off Ben Hilfenhaus to move into 30s while Dravid stayed on 38 at the other end.

Dravid though was the first one to reach his half century, slashing at a Siddle delivery which went over slips for a four. Dravid's 50 took him 178 minutes and 137 balls and contained four fours.

Tendulkar followed him soon with a push down to long on off Lyon, having batted for only 55 minutes and hit six fours and a six during his knock.

The scoring pattern slowed down a little in the final hour as Dravid appeared to be suffering from cramps in his leg and needed physio's attention.

Tendulkar, at the other end, was in a zone of his own and sweetly lofted Lyon over mid-off to move into the 60s. A flick for three off Pattinson in the closing minutes made him the highest scorer in the match so far.

Earlier, Sehwag smashed a quickfire 67 but was dismissed just before tea-break as India reached 99 for 2.

The right-handed opener batted for 127 minutes and faced 83 balls to hit seven fours in his quickfire 67 which rattled the Australians and brought cheers from a sizeable Indian presence in the stands.

Sehwag, let off on 54 and 58, finally fell to James Pattinson when he aimed an expansive drive through the covers and inside edged it on to his stumps.

Pattinson, the young tearaway quick, was earlier rattled by Sehwag's antics and the two were involved in a verbal duel after the Indian opener took a single off the bowler. Sehwag was angry that he could have been injured by Pattinson's elbow and gave it back to the bowler.

The big-bodied speedster retaliated with support from Siddle who was standing at mid-on. Umpire Marais Erasmus had to step in and spoke to Sehwag.

Sehwag, typically, played and missed quite often in the initial phase of his career but also carted some bold strokes which played on to the nerves of the Australians.

Sehwag's booming shots weren't seen straightaway but when he flayed Patterson to four through the covers in the fifth over, the opener was up and away.

Sehwag then carved first-change Peter Siddle over slips which almost went for a six over the third-man region. He then followed it up with two consecutive fours of the fast bowler - one smashed through the covers and the second one deliberately steered through the slip cordon.

Sehwag took a fancy of off-spinner Lyon, introduced early in the innings, and twice flayed him down the ground for boundaries. The first such shot brought up his half century off 59 balls with five fours.

The Delhi opener, who completed 8,000 runs in Test cricket during his innings, then lofted Lyon which almost carried to David Warner at long-on.

In the very next over, he edged Pattinson but wicketkeeper Haddin couldn't hold on to the chance on his right.
Just before the tea break, Pattinson again roared up in appeal for a catch to forward short leg but it was clear the ball had taken off Sehwag's thigh pads.

In the morning, Brad Haddin (27) and Peter Siddle (41) were gone in a jiffy to Zaheer Khan but the ninth wicket pair of James Pattinson (18 not out) and Ben Hilfenhaus (19) stayed put for 45 minutes and 27 runs which took the hosts past the 300-run mark.

Team Anna appeals to Anna Hazare to end fast

Within an hour of Anna Hazare begining his three-day fast, his prominent supporters Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi today appealed to him to end the hunger strike taking into consideration his ill health but the activist remained adamant on continuing his protest.

"He has fever, let us request him to stop his fast. Anna can continue his dharna," Bedi said addressing supporters at the MMRDA ground where Hazare was sitting on fast.

The 74-year-old activist was suffering from viral infection and his personal assistant Suresh Pathare had been insisting that Hazare was well and he will be sitting on fast.

"Anna is unwell. Will you request Anna to withdraw his fast?" Bedi asked the crowd, which responded with a loud "Yes".

However, Hazare, looking quite under the weather, waved his hand in a gesture of "No".
Kejriwal and another close aide Manish Sisodia also requested Hazare to end his fast.
Hazare, who has been suffering from cold and mild fever for the past three days, reached the grounds at around 12:30 PM after a rally from the guest house where he was staying to the ground which took over two-and-half hours.

"He is a little weak as of now, but will be fit to fast from tomorrow. His blood pressure and other vital parameters are normal. He has got a little cough and cold but he is getting better," his doctor D G Pote had said yesterday.

China Eyes Next-Generation Internet

Beijing: China will allow commercial use of its next-generation internet system by 2015 after putting it on trial in 2013, a media report said.

The new system expands the capability of the Internet Protocol address and improves the speed of the internet. It is also expected to create employment, the Chinese cabinet said in a statement Friday. 

The new technology, called IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6), is an upgrade of the current IPv4 whose IP addresses are about to be all used up, People's Daily reported.

The new IPv6 technology opens up a pool of internet addresses that are a billion to trillion times larger than the total pool of IPv4 addresses and are virtually inexhaustible for the foreseeable future, experts said.

The IPv4 was developed in the early 1980s and has a capacity of just over 4 billion IP addresses.

The new IPv6 network bandwidth can reach 2.5-10 gigabytes per second, 100 times faster than the current speed.

The government will try out the system on a small scale by the end of 2013 before expanding it in 2014 and 2015.

China is the world's biggest internet market with about 500 million online users.

Chinese companies are also encouraged to develop new technologies on the new IPv6 network, such as cloud computing, Internet of Things -- uniquely identifiable objects (things) and their virtual representations in an Internet-like structure -- and Three Network Convergence -- an initiative that hopes to integrate telecommunications, TV and radio, and the Internet in the world's most populous country.

Since 2004, the IPv6 networks have been built in some research organizations in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou for testing.

Review: Don 2 has no edge-of-the-seat moments

For an action film with the central plot setting us up for a robbery inside a major bank, Don 2's pacing is very slow, writes Aseem Chhabra.

In his new film Don 2 director Farhan Akhtar [ Images ] takes his time introducing us to his lead, played by Shahrukh Khan [ Images ]. We get a whiff of Khan, a slight sense of his presence, with close shots and shaky hand held camera. There we see his arm, part of his unshaven face, his dark glasses.  As he travels up a meandering river in Thailand, we notice Khan's rather odd looking long hair (a wig, of course), with dreadlocks.  And there is cigarette smoke rolling around his face in slow motion. It is all very sexy and so cool!

Through most of the film Khan is very cool. He often has a twinkle in his eye, a slight mischievous smile, as he speaks dialogues like "Touché" and "Kya karen sweetheart, we are everywhere" (in response to Lara Dutta's [ Images ] startled look on hearing that an Indian is a vice president of a major German bank).  Then there are the Don-isms (Don Says) where he speaks in third person spouting statements like "Don ko pakadna mushqil hee nahih, namumkin hai," and "Don apne doston ka haal puche na puche, apne dushmon ki khabar hamesha rakhta hai."

He walks with a swagger, whether in a Malaysian prison wearing an orange jump suit, or on the dance floor with Dutta. There is a rhythm in his body, as he sways his shoulders and his arms walking up in the Zara Dil Ko Thaam Lo song sequence.

And then how can one forget when Khan strikes the ultimate pose -- the camera captures him at an angle, as he slightly tilts his back, with his arms open sideways. It is King Khan's [ Images ] signature attempt to remind us that he is the master of the universe.  At least his fans believe that.

A lot of Akhtar's new film is full of such cool elements with sequences set in sumptuous foreign locations -- the French Riviera, the jungles of Thailand, Kuala Lumpur, Zurich and finally Berlin. Don 2 is beautifully shot, well lit and has a very clean look, whether on the streets of Berlin or inside the studio, thanks to Akhtar's terrific cinematographer Jason West.

But then, as with many good intentioned, and technically well crafted Bollywood films, Don 2, fails in the key test. Akhtar is definitely one of the smartest filmmakers in Bollywood, but this time he presents us a story, plot and script that is dull, almost boring. When we are not seeing Khan's swagger, or hearing the hip upbeat background score by Shankar Ehsaan Loy [ Images ], Don 2 starts to lose steam. 

Part of the problem is that despite its action segments, Don 2 is also a Bollywood film and so romance has to be a part of the plot. Towards the end of the film while bullets are flying everywhere, there is an unexpected, almost forced and laughable romantic moment between Khan and his co-star Priyanka Chopra [ Images ]. Everything pauses for the stars to look into each other eyes.

For an action film with the central plot setting us up for a robbery inside a major bank, the film's pacing is very slow.  Coupled with that, the script explains everything to us step-by-step. And if anyone was paying attention, following the convoluted plot where Don always manages to sweet charm the morons at Interpol, in the last five minutes Akhtar sums up the film with a quick recap, revealing many more details that were never shown to us before.  It is an old fashioned gimmick to make the audience say "Wow, we were fooled!"

For a suspense thriller, Don 2 has no edge-of-the-seat moments, despite a decent car chase sequence and a scene when Don jumps off a tall building in Berlin. One big problem is the timing of Don 2's release. Akhtar and his producing partner Ritesh Sidhwani (Khan and his wife Gauri are also listed as producers of the film) chose to release the film during Christmas weekend.  It is too bad that just a week before that, Tom Cruise [ Images ] released his mega-budget action film of the season Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol (MI4). It is may be wrong to compare the two films, but watching MI4, I had to remind myself to breathe. As I sat through Don 2 -- a wannabe MI4, I was breathing too heavily, frustrated at the slow moving film.

Khan's charming presence aside, Don 2 is packed with uninspired performances by a large supporting cast. First in the line-up is Chopra as Roma, an Interpol officer located in Kuala Lumpur. She is attractive looking, with her big pouting lips, but most of the time Chopra acts like a school girl putting her hands on her forehead in exasperation saying "Damn it," or a character out of an Enid Blyton book, collecting clues to solve the Mystery of the Missing Don! 

Om Puri [ Images ], who once was one of the finest actors in India [ Images ], is such a caricature here. He looks tired as Vishal Malik, Chopra's boss at Interpol. Despite his very Leslie Nielsen appearance, he sounds positively silly, saying dialogues with his heavy throaty voice -- "It's over Don," or simply "It's Don" (as he answers a cell phone.)

Boman Irani [ Images ] tries hard to look menacing, and he does partially succeed. Kunal Kapoor [ Images ] appears in the second half of the film as a computer hacker, but he is so sweet and good natured, and has a lovely pregnant German girlfriend. We know that nothing bad will happen to Kapoor's Sameer. Don may be a negative character, but Khan is a Bollywood star. He has to have a heart of gold and he cannot do bad things to good people.

Jaya ups pressure on Mullaiperiyar

CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Sunday held detailed discussions about State-specific issues, including the Mullaiperiyar dispute, with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and stuck to the Tamil Nadu stand on the dam issue.

The discussions lasted for about 40 minutes at the Raj Bhavan here. The CM submitted a 16-page memorandum to the PM on the occasion. Earlier, Jayalalithaa and senior colleagues of her Cabinet received the Prime Minister at the airport by offering a shawl.

During the talks, Jayalalithaa requested Manmohan Singh to advise the Kerala government to honour the order of the Supreme Court given on February 27, 2006, for raising the water level of the Mullaiperiyar dam initially from 136 ft to 142 ft and to make appropriate amendments to the Kerala Irrigation and Water Conservation (Amendment) Act, 2006. 

Jayalalithaa also requested the PM to advise the Kerala government not to undertake the construction of a new dam since the retrofitted Mullaiperiyar dam was safe and functioning well.

Jayalalithaa said Kerala should be advised not to obstruct but to co-operate with the Tamil Nadu government in carrying out the remaining strengthening works suggested by the Central Water Commission and the routine maintenance works.

The Centre should ask Kerala to remove all the encroachments that have come up in the leased area and should deploy Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to safeguard the Mullaiperiyar dam and its appurtenant structures in the leased area, she said.

Besides, the National Disaster Management Authority should be directed to withdraw the notification of the team of experts constituted for formulating a Contingency Response Plan for the Mullaiperiyar dam.

Anna Hazare to reach Mumbai today; cops fortify fast venue

The security at the ground of Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) in suburban Bandra-Kurla Complex will comprise 2,000 constables, 200 sub-inspectors of police, six platoons of state reserve police force, three teams of Quick Response Team and two Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads.
The ground will have six emergency exits, 16 fire extinguishers and six metal detector units, besides round-the-clock ambulance services.

Hazare would be starting the fast at 11am on Tuesday.

Ahead of his three-day fast from December 27, Anna Hazare has caught cold but his associates say it is no major cause for concern.

"Anna has cough and cold. However, there is no reason to worry. He is taking medicines. There is no cause for concern," Hazare's aide Suresh Pathare told reporters.

In Mumbai, the 48,000 square metres Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) ground has a capacity to accommodate over 60,000 people. However, it will be renting out 20,000 square metres for the rally and 10,000 square metres for parking.

MMRDA has specified December 26 for pandal erection and December 30 for its removal. Team Anna has paid Rs 7.78 lakh as rent and Rs 5.29 lakh as security deposit for the rally.

Preparations for the event are in full swing. IAC sources said that at the venue, a room attached with toilet will be provided to Hazare, along with a cot and continuous supply of hot water. The Gandhian has caught cold and is convalescing at his village.

IAC volunteer N Srinivas, an architect, will design the stage.

Tendulkar should be conferred the Bharat Ratna: Ganguly

VADODARA: Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly on Friday joined the chorus in bestowing the Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian award, on champion batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

"Sachin is a Bharat Ratna. There is no doubt that he should be conferred the Bharat Ratna award. Sachin deserves all honours and I am his great fan," Ganguly said.

Tendulkar is one short of scoring a record 100th international centuries.

Here to lead Bengal in a crucial Ranji tie against Baroda, Ganguly's statement assumes significance after the Government of India made necessary changes in eligibility criteria for making sportspersons eligible for the Bharat Ratna award a couple of days ago.

The prestigious honour will now be awarded in recognition of exceptional service/performance "in any field of human endeavour", thus bringing in almost all the areas that were earlier left out of the ambit.

Till now only those people were considered eligible for the award who had excelled in art, literature, science and public service of the highest order, leaving out other fields such as sports.

Union sports minister Ajay Maken has said that this move has cleared the decks for Tendulkar, legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand and others.

Reports indicated that the change has been brought in through a notification from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) following a recommendation by the home and sports ministries.

On Thursday, a research report in Australia described Tendulkar as the greatest ever batsman ahead of even Sir Donald Bradman.

Indian skipper Mahendra Dhoni said that he was confident of a fit and competitive side for the first Test against Australia starting on Monday.

Dhoni revealed that the team's strategy was simple; to beat Australia in a larger number of sessions.

Dhoni also said that despite the hype and all the cricketing history between the two teams, he was looking to keep the series controversy-free. "It is something we don't really want to do as professional cricketers, there is a lot at stake. We hope for a controversy-free but at the same time it is important to keep it interesting, said Dhoni.

Dhoni also indicated the importance of dashing opener Virender Sehwag in the side. "He is a key player for us along with other batsmen. Sehwag can put the opposition under pressure and does not give the bowlers many warm-up balls", said Dhoni.

Speaking on the much debated fitness of the bowlers, Dhoni said, "It's good to see both (Ishant and Zaheer) in action. We have missed Zaheer quite a few times. The pacers are shaping well. Hope the best XI is available for the first Test."

The Indian skipper also indicated that coming to the tour 12-13 days in advance helped the team mentally and would assist the outcome of the series.

Court summons executives of 21 social networking sites for webcasting objectionable content

New Delhi:  A Delhi court has issued summons to the representatives of 21 social networking sites including Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Yahoo and YouTube to face trial for allegedly webcasting objectionable content. They will appear in the court today.

Metropolitan Magistrate Sudesh Kumar took cognisance of a private criminal complaint and has directed the Government to take "immediate appropriate steps" and file a report in the court by January 13.

The court said, "it appears from a bare perusal of the documents that prima facie the accused in connivance with each other and other unknown persons are selling, publicly exhibiting and have put into circulation obscene, lascivious content which also appears to the prurient interests and tends to deprave and corrupt the persons who are likely to read, see or hear the same."

"It is also evident that such contents are continuously openly and freely available to everyone who is using the said network irrespective of their age and even the persons under the age of 18 years have full and uncensored access to such obscene contents," the court said.

The web companies may face trial for allegedly committing the offence punishable under section 292 (sale of obscene books etc), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young person etc) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.

The court's order comes three days after another Delhi court hearing a petition had asked various social networking companies including Facebook, Google and YouTube to remove objectionable content promoting hatred or communal disharmony from their respective websites.

Over the last few months, Information Technology minister Kapil Sibal had asked social networking giants like Google and Facebook to ensure offensive material is deleted. Mr Sibal denied that this amounts to censorship; he also said that the government will have to intervene because the companies have not cooperated.

"I suggested that these platforms should evolve a mechanism on their own to ensure that such contents are removed as soon as they get to know of it... I have told them that this cannot go on," Mr Sibal had said.

3G roaming illegal: DoT

In a move that would hurt mobile operators providing 3G services, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has asked these operators to terminate their roaming agreements, which were in violation of licence norms. 

Backed by similar observations made by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and the Law Ministry, Communications and IT Minister Kapil Sibal has asked Telecom Secretary R. Chandrasekhar to send notices to all 3G operators, who have entered into such ‘illegal' roaming agreements. The DoT is also likely to impose penalty on these operators for violating 3G licence norms.

In the 3G spectrum auction held earlier this year, where the government fetched over Rs.67,700 crore, no private operator managed to bag pan-India licence, thus barring them from offering nationwide services. Reliance Communications, Bharti Airtel and Aircel bagged the highest number 13 circles in the 3G auction.

Subsequently, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar and Idea Cellular entered into a roaming agreement to use each others' networks for providing pan-India 3G coverage. Similar agreements were also entered into by Tata Teleservices and Aircel, which they later terminated. After receiving complaints, the DoT looked into the matter and also took legal opinion. Now, the DoT will issue notices to these firm to terminate their contracts with immediate effect or face action. 

On the other hand, the three operators — Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar and Idea Cellular — have written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding refund of spectrum auction payments if such 3G roaming is disallowed.

“In the event that 3G ICR [intra-circle roaming] is now deemed impermissible, then, it would be a clear breach of our contract and the pre-auction confirmation given by the government. In that eventuality, we request that our spectrum auction payments be refunded to us with interest along with compensation for all the capital investments made by us,” Bharti Enterprises Chairman and Group CEO Sunil Mittal, Aditya Birla Group (Idea Cellular) Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla and London-based Vodafone Group Plc Group Chief Executive Vittorio Colao said in a letter written to Dr. Singh a few weeks ago.

Stiff Oppn a big hurdle in passing Lokpal Bill

New Delhi: The Lokpal Bill was finally introduced in Parliament after repeated adjournments, but not without much drama in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. It was clear that the bill was unlikely to get support and its fate is uncertain. 

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad was its strongest critic and accused anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare of dictating terms to Parliament.
"A retired police officer, two lawyers, an activist and others have been dictating to MPs and Parliament," said Lalu Prasad.

And even the Left, which was as critical of the Bill, dismissed Hazare as not being the second Gandhi.
"There is only one father of the nation - Mahatma Gandhi," said CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta.
The Bill faced opposition from pro-Muslim quota MPs like Lalu and Mulayam and they, along with congress MP Raj Babbar, met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to ask for re-insertion of minority quota in the Lokpal, which was removed on Wednesday night.

The Congress Core Committee on Thursday met to decide to include minority quota. But it was clear that the Government was under stress, though Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee insisted that the UPA has not brought the Bill under Anna Hazare's pressure.


"There was a discussion in both the Houses. Somebody is talking of duress...where is the question of duress? Somebody, who is advising me to be strong, should have advised his political leaders when they went and sat on the dharna manch of Sri Anna Hazare, and what they said...please check out," said Mukherjee.
Meanwhile, Team Anna has already trashed the Bill and promised agitation.
"Why is the Government bringing such a Bill? It will serve no purpose. We have been watching our MPs, we will now reach out to the people," said Hazare.

Though taking a cue from Sonia Gandhi's tough talk, the Congress has decided not to be scared of Anna Hazare anymore, Rahul's close aide and Bareilly MP Praveen Aaron dashed off a letter to Hazare.
The letter said, "Your continuous canard-spreading and false propaganda against the Congress Party, even after its sincere efforts, makes it amply clear that your 'movement against corruption' has drifted into being a 'politically-motivated planned conspiracy' against the Congress and to promote otherwise bleak political fortunes of the BJP."

Before Parliament meets on December 27 to discuss and pass the Bill, the Congress will have to work hard at winning support.

Shah Rukh: I enjoy playing negative characters

Shah Rukh Khan is quite excited about his new movie Don 2, releasing this Friday. This is the first time in Hindi cinema that a sequel revolving around a negative character will be released.

In a promotional press conference, the superstar talked about why he was attracted to playing negative characters, his plans to quit smoking, and much more.

You are playing a negative character in Don 2. You established yourself as an actor with negative roles in films like Baazigar and Daar. How do you look back at them?

I am in no way glorifying negative characters. There is a justification for the character to be negative or to be bad as the story requires it. I enjoy playing negative characters. For an actor, it is one of the greatest highs to play a villain.

Do you think negative characters are more memorable?

Evil or devil, black or grey characters, they always have some sort of attraction whether in books, stories, films or television.

I started my career in theatre, and have portrayed a good and bad guy on stage, too. When I joined films, I got the opportunity to play negative characters, which was accepted by the audience.

Google: Android Activations Top 700,000 a Day

Every day more than 700,000 people sign up for a new Android device, Google's Android chief, Andy Rubin, said late Tuesday via Twitter and Google+. That works out to nearly 5 million new Android users every week, which is about the equivalent of an iPhone 4S opening weekend every seven days. Rubin also clarified that Google's 700,000 activations per day includes new devices only and not resold ones. "We count each device only once," Rubin said in a follow-up post on Google+. "Activations means you go into a store, buy a device, [and] put it on the network by subscribing to a wireless service."


Rubin's clarification may have been in response to past criticisms lobbed against Android by Apple's late cofounder Steve Jobs. "We think some of our friends are counting upgrades in their numbers," Jobs said, referring to Android in September 2010. Rubin on Tuesday did not specifically address the issue of counting upgrades, but did say that Google counts each device only once.

Earlier in December, Google’s executive chairman, Eric Schmidt, said there were about 550,000 Android phones being activated every day, according to CNET. But it appears Schmidt was specifically taking about phones, while Rubin only mentioned "devices" suggesting he may be counting phones as well as 3G-enabled tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab or the recently launched Droid Xyboard devices.
Rubin in June said there were 500,000 Android activations every day.

Google is the most popular smartphone platform in the United States, with nearly 42 percent market share, followed by Apple's iPhone at 27.1 percent, according to metrics firm comScore.

Australia drops Hughes, Khawaja

Phillip Hughes and Usman Khawaja have been omitted from the Australian team that played against New Zealand in Hobart and Marsh, Ed Cowan and Ben Hilfenhaus have been added to the squad,” Inverarity said.

“Shane Watson was not considered for selection as he has not recovered sufficiently from his (hamstring/calf) injury, while Ryan Harris has not yet achieved the volume of bowling required to be available for consideration for Test selection.” 

Cowan was included on the strength of his 109 against India playing for a Chairman's XI in Canberra on Tuesday along with two centuries in this season's domestic Sheffield Shield and one for Australia ‘A' against the touring New Zealanders.

“Ed Cowan has been in excellent form in recent weeks,” Inverarity said.

“His inclusion is in recognition of his consistently good performances and we anticipate that he can provide steadiness at the top of the order. 

“Ben Hilfenhaus has regained form this season and he provides a strong and reliable bowling option.”

Inverarity said Hughes and Khawaja both needed to produce “compelling performances” to be considered for future Test selection. 

“We see both Phillip Hughes and Usman Khawaja as developing players with bright futures and remaining as players of significance,” he said. 

“They are determined young men and I know that they will work hard to produce compelling performances and push strongly for further consideration.” 

The Australian squad assembles in Melbourne from Thursday ahead of the Boxing Day Test start.

The squad: Michael Clarke (capt.), Brad Haddin (vice-capt.), Dan Christian, Ed Cowan, Ben Hilfenhaus, Michael Hussey, Nathan Lyon, Shaun Marsh, James Pattinson, Ricky Ponting, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc and David Warner.
