Kerala vehicles not allowed to enter TN at border

All the vehicles reaching here, including that of Sabarimala pilgrims, were advised to take the alternative route through Cumbummettu checkpost. "We are advising them for their good only. The situation is not calm in Cumbum and Theni," said Gunasekharan, a PSI at Tamil Nadu check post.

The temporary check post came up following tension between the two states over the Mullaperiyar dam issue.
Throughout the day vehicles from Kerala side, especially that of Sabarimala pilgrims, were seen approaching the Tamil Nadu check post only to return back taking the alternative route.

Though the vehicular traffic was huge here, many of them from the Kerala side had to walk to cross the border. Many were coming from distant places in Kerala and had to get down at Kumily bus stand, as that had been practically the last bus stop in this region for the past few weeks.
